Ampeleia
Tuscany, Italy
33 ha

Ampeleia was born in 2002 and located in Maremma (Tuscany) on the Colline Metallifere (Metal hills) and is characterized by its high-rise from 200 to 600m above sea level that conveys biodiversity. Within this diversity, the estate focuses on Cabernet Franc and Alicante Nero, a distinctly Tuscan biotype of Grenache. Though Ampeleia owns around 120 hectares of land, only 35 hectares are planted to vine and 56 hectares are dedicated to other cultivations, in an attempt to keep the landscape intact to promote biodiversity. The  biodynamic farm is managed by a group of young people in which Marco Tait expresses the vision of Elisabetta Foradori and Giovanni Podini and the terroir through the wines. They strive to preserve the essence of the fruit in the grapes and by respecting the natural transformation processes in winemaking, they ensure the birth of a wine that is the true expression of its land. The wine reflects  the taste of Roccatederighi’s terroir and its wild character.
